Winter can take its toll on your body both mentally and physically. The days are shorter, colder and most definitely darker, which can have a real impact on your wellbeing. To ensure you win the war on winter, we’ve teamed up with Senior Training Associate, Nicola Baillie, from one of the world’s leading spa brand’s, ESPA, to talk winter wellbeing rituals that will help you keep your inner zen all season long.

The Immune Boosting Ritual

Dry, cold winter air not only has an impact on your skin but on your immune system. Cold weather leads people to spend more time in doors which means that flu, colds and coughs are spread far more easily. To ensure your immune system is in peak condition, Nicola recommends carrying an Immune Boosting Ritual.

She says: “As we come into winter, we should all be boosting our resilience. I recommend running a bath and adding in Resistance Bath Oil as it contains Tea Tree and Eucalyptus to cleanse and invigorate.”

“Stand in the bath and scrub with Detoxifying Salt and Oil Scrub, after scrubbing, soak in the bath for 20 minutes. All of the salts will dissolve which means you get the benefits from both the sea salts as well as the essential oils.”

“Then apply the Resistance Body Oil to the full body to protect and purify.”

The Warming Ritual

This winter wellbeing ritual is perfect for those days when you can’t seem to warm up. Bathe in the warming oils of Indian Bay and Clove with the ESPA Fitness Bath Oil. Best used before or after exercise, this warming body oil will warm up your muscles, whilst nourishing the skin for a beautifully soft, supple body. Perfect for relaxing after a long, hard (and cold) day at the office.

The Evening Hydration Ritual

Skin in need of some comfort and nourishment? Try out the evening hydration ritual. Nicola explains: “Cleanse the skin with the Nourishing Cleansing Balm which contains Rose Damascena to richly nourish and hydrate.

“Spritz with Hydrating Floral Spafreshbefore applying Overnight Hydration Therapy mixed with Tri Active Advanced Night Booster. The Four O’clock Flower in Night Booster will help increase the skin’s natural overnight activity to boost.

“The Lavender within Overnight Hydration Therapy will help promote a restful night sleep which is so important as sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental and physical health.”
