Winter mornings can be a struggle. When it’s cold and miserable outside, the prospect of staying snuggled under a duvet seems far more inviting. So, our experts have devised their top tips to waking up early on dark mornings.

Get organised the night before

waking up early

Getting up in the dark seems all the more daunting when you know you’ve got a million and one things to do. Start the day off on the right foot by preparing everything you need for the day ahead the night before. It means you’re ready to get going from the moment you wake up.

Our top tips include, laying your clothes out, pre-making your breakfast and getting your gym kit ready.

Have something to look forward too

Getting out of your snuggly castle of pillows and duvets becomes a hell of a lot easier when you have something to look forward to. Create morning rituals that will make waking up earlier and running to the shower worth the chilly run across the landing. Whether it’s treating yourself to super luxurious cleansing regime to kick start the morning, an aromatherapy oil that will make your shower extra special or lighting a candle next to your bedside table whilst you’re getting ready, it’s the little things in life that make waking up earlier that little bit easier. Put your alarm on the other side of the room

waking up early

One of the main struggles with waking up early on dark mornings is physically getting out of bed. Place your alarm on the other side of the room so you physically have to get out of bed to turn it off. Then, once you’ve stumbled out of bed you might as well make it to the bathroom and hop in the shower and that’s it, you’re up.

Make sure you get enough sleep

It sounds like a simple one. But your body will want to naturally wake up if it’s had enough sleep, so make sure you’re going to bed early enough.
