Q. What was your vision when starting the brand?
Through my years working within the industry I became increasingly frustrated that one couldn’t strike a balance between the results-driven efficacy of high-tech cosmeceuticals and the enjoyment factor of potent botanicals and luxurious textures. In my clinical treatments, I used to always mix and blend cosmeceutical and aromatherapy formulas together in treatment so it made sense to develop my own and I created the SKINESIS collection which launched in 2008 to deliver this objective. My Skinesis range is the distillation of my knowledge of skin and cosmetic science with expertise from the treatment room to bring you powerful results driven, cosmeceutical formulations with potent botanicals in luxurious textures.
Q. Talk us through your beauty routine…
My regime starts by cleansing thoroughly with Ultimate Cleanse, followed by my Eye Recovery, Age-Repair Concentrate, Stem Cell Collagen Activator, Dynamic Defence Concentrate and Morning Facial (a gorgeous daytime facial elixir, inspired by my Overnight Facial). I finish with a good quality SPF like Skin Insurance SPF 30. I am a big advocate of product layering. In the evening, I use my Overnight Facial and some Skinesis massage techniques in place of Morning Facial and my SPF products. I take my Overnight Facial Supplements to help support the skin at a cellular level and improve skin radiance.
Q. What is your number one beauty secret?
Vitamin A (but must be used with SPF protection) This fantastic age-defying ingredient can be found in most of my products and I would recommend its regular use to anyone concerned with signs of ageing or looking to improve the appearance of their skin in general. Vitamin A, also known as retin A (acid form), retinyl palmitate (lipid oil soluble form) and Retinol (alcohol form) is all converted to retinoic acid which works in the cell to deliver anti-ageing, repairing results which are clinically proven. Vitamin A is proven to prevent and reverse photo-ageing and promote skin healing but must be used in tandem with high quality SPF products. Another beauty secret is facial massage!
Q. What do you think is the key ingredient of female empowerment?
Confidence!
Q. Who is your beauty inspiration or role model?
For beauty, I find Coco Chanel inspirational. She so effortlessly epitomized the true sense of beauty. Effortlessly chic and stylish her pioneering work truly celebrates the femininity and strength of women.
Q. March is all about balancing yourself at Beauty Expert, what is your favourite way to unwind?
I love to have a relaxing bath time with Aromatherapy Associates deep relax oil followed by giving myself a facial with Skinesis and my magic massage
Q. If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
It's advice that still stands today and from Audrey Hepburn says "nothing is impossible in fact the word says I'm possible"
