Blush is a summer beauty trend that has been seen everywhere, from runway shows forecasting SS18, to our favourite makeup artists' Instagram. It's a look that everyone can perfect if you select the best blush tools and products for your skin. With wedding season in full swing, there's even more reason to try out the trend to achieve a healthy youthful flush. This is a look that would beautiful on brides and guests alike.
You can apply a blush with more intense pigment to create a more dramatic look, or you can tone it down for daytime wear.
There are several types of blush to choose from, powder, liquid, cream and gel. We've created a guide to help you select the best blush to create a natural radiant blush look, perfect for the summer season.
How to Find the Best Blush for You
Powder Blush
The original powder rouge is classic for a reason. There's an incredible selection of shades available, from matte to radiant, from pretty pink to red rouge. We recommend using a blush brush that has soft bristles, allowing a more even application.
To apply powder blush, sweep the pigment across your cheeks, starting at the centre and blending out to the temples. It will instantly lift and illuminate the complexion, making you look more youthful and awake.
Discover some of our current favourite powder blush formulas below. We love the Pixi Glow-y Powder which has light-reflecting pigments to illuminate the high points of the face.
Cream Blush
Cream blush is best applied with fingers and it's one for the woman on the go. Due to the cream formula, it tends to last longer on the skin, and can withstand variable temperatures. Pack one in your holiday carry-on for summer-ready skin. We love the By Terry Glow Expert Duo Stick which combines a cream blush, a cream highlighter and a blending brush in one.
Liquid Blush
Liquid blush is a relatively new concept in the beauty world and it is incredibly easy to apply. It will add a sheer wash of colour that looks effortlessly sophisticated. You can control the amount of colour you want to apply, and it's best to use a stippling brush to create a natural coverage that blends in beautifully with any makeup beneath it.
Jelly Blush
One of our favourite new beauty innovations is the jelly blush, pioneered by industry trendsetter Illamasqua. Taking inspiration from the 'glass skin' trend in Korean Beauty, the Illamasqua Colour Veil Blushers create a natural pastel-toned flush.
The product is a jelly texture, feeling incredibly lightweight when applied to the skin, and a hybrid formula offering the skin-smoothing benefits of the Hydra Veil primer. Use your fingers to apply a small amount and blend well.
