We’re always on the hunt for the latest revolutionary ingredient that will transform our complexion. This summer, we’ve discovered tumeric. It turns that the aromatic orange spice usually used to add colour and flavour to curry can also work wonders on the skin.

What is turmeric?

Turmeric is a natural ingredient mainly grown in the tropics. With a very similar look and feel to ginger, it has a peppery, warm flavour when eaten. For many years’ turmeric has played a key role in Eastern cultures and Ayurvedic medicines and is known for its calming therapeutic qualities.

What is turmeric good for?

Aside from adding flavour to food, turmeric also has many healing and cosmetic properties. A stalwart ingredient when it comes to skincare, turmeric contains many properties that contribute to revealing a natural glow. Naturally packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components, the powerful ingredient works hard to brighten and revive skin.

Brimming with antioxidants, the fine powder can be added in to you daily cleanser to provide extra exfoliator or can be used as a detoxifying mask to smooth, nourish and help the effects of fine lines and wrinkles.

How to use:Daily use

Mix one spoonful with water or your daily cleanser and massage in an upward motion over the face and neck, rinse thoroughly and gently pat dry with a flannel.

Weekly use

To use as a face mask, mix 2-3 spoons of the powder with water until formed into a thick paste. Again, apply to the face and neck and leave to dry for at least ten minutes before removing gently with a damp muslin cloth.
