Glycolic Acid
Derived from sugar cane, glycolic acid is what’s known as an Alpha Hydroxyl Acid (AHA) and should be used with care. An active ingredient that creates impressive results, the main properties of glycolic acid is that it refines the skin surface, evens pigmentation and sweeps away dead skin cells to reveal radiance beneath. Those with oily and combination skin can enjoy a more balanced complexion that looks and feels purified.
As acids are more potent ingredients, in any concentration, glycolic acid is not recommended for those with sensitive skin. As a rule of thumb with skincare acids, we advise to build up how often you apply this, paying attention to any skin irritation, and never combining with other active ingredients such as retinol. Apply daily SPF for at least one week after applying glycolic acid products to the skin.
